Micaela Spina

I am Micaela Spina, I am 33 years old and I am a computer engineer graduated at the Polytechnic of Bari.
I have been working in Dedalus for 8 years, at the Bari office.

My professional qualification is currently Product Development Specialist.

I have always worked on the project that today is P4C (Planner for Care), whose primary objective is to allow the rapid and uniform prescription of services, activities, drugs and multidisciplinary protocols configured for problem or pathology.

What attracted you to a career in Engineering/STEM?
Since I was a child, I have always shown a strong predilection for analytical and scientific subjects. Growing up, I began to love the world of technology to the point of dreaming of becoming a computer engineer one day. I fought to achieve my dream, and today I do my job with love and passion. I love the innovation and the aptitude for critical thinking of this job.
For me science, math and technology are not just jobs. They’re a passion.
If your career is something you enjoy doing, you’ll live a happier and more productive life.

What attracted you to a career at Dedalus? What do you like about working for Dedalus?
At university, through some courses I particularly loved, I discovered how information technology can help in the clinical sector. I was excited about all this, it’s nice to think that through your work with technology, every day, you can help someone. Dedalus gave me the opportunity to do the job I love. I have the feeling every day that I work for an important, big goal.

What would you say to young females who are thinking about studying engineering education?
Often still today we are told that there are things that “are not suitable for us” or that in some way we cannot do. It’s not absolutely true! We can and must do everything for which we are good, we have the duty to respect and realise our dreams! What I recommend to any woman who dreams of a STEM career to fight to succeed, never give up in the face of the (thousand) difficulties that there will be along the way, because in life you have to do the job you love!
