Regional Screening Project through the complete digitalisation of processes

The Head of the Apulia Region’s ‘Health Promotion and Safety in the Workplace’ Service, Dr Nehludoff Albano, explains how it was possible to promote and coordinate a regional screening project through digital transformation, overcoming barriers and possible resistance.

Why promote a regional screening project?

Screening is a topic that has been developed since 2017, when new essential levels of care were introduced as a collective prevention action. This led some regions, such as the Apulia Region, to invest in the complete digitization of these processes to encourage homogenization and provide citizens with an enhanced offer and improved services. This is why we invested resources, by strongly believing in regional digitization, which brings together the various healthcare companies

Soon what appeared to be an obstacle turned into a great added value, such as the need to create working groups that made it possible to share organisational models, processes, choices, creating a climate of solidarity between the different territories involved.

The point of having more uniform, homogeneous, overall digitization, is to create value for families and patients by providing them with appropriate information about screening programs. Having a single, regional information system allows to control activity processes, improving them in real time and giving opportunities to think about innovative services.
