Dedalus, strategic ally in Chile’s evolving digital healthcare landscape

An Interview with Selene Contreras in El Mercurio

With Over a Decade in Chile, Dedalus Strengthens Its Role as a Strategic Partner in the Digital Transformation of the Healthcare Sector

With a technological offering that integrates interoperability, advanced analytics, and cloud-based solutions, Dedalus has positioned itself as a key player in the digital transformation of the healthcare ecosystem in the southern region of Latin America. The company began its operations in Chile with a focus on clinical laboratory and pathology services; however, in recent years, it has significantly expanded its portfolio to include solutions designed to improve operational efficiency, enhance the clinical experience, and ensure continuity of care. This is highlighted by Selene Contreras, Country Manager – South Latam Region at Dedalus, who leads the company’s growth and consolidation strategy in countries such as Chile, Argentina, and Peru. “Our mission is to support healthcare institutions by connecting technology and clinical knowledge to improve outcomes, optimize resources, and strengthen continuity of care,” she explains.

Today, Dedalus works with several leading healthcare providers in the region and has become a strategic partner for both public and private institutions as they transition towards more integrated and sustainable digital models.

Key Milestones and 2025 Vision

The year 2024 was pivotal for the company, marked by the addition of new institutions to its client network, strengthened interoperability capabilities, and progress in cloud migration. Furthermore, new initiatives were launched to maximize the value of clinical data as a decision-making tool.

Looking ahead to 2025, Dedalus aims to further deepen its regional presence and roll out next-generation solutions such as Dedalus Care (Electronic Health Record), InVitro LIS and AIS (for laboratories and pathology), and PacsOnWeb (cloud-based imaging). “Our focus is on consolidating our position as strategic allies to healthcare institutions on their path toward mature digitalization,” says the executive.

Collaborative Innovation with a Local Focus

In April of this year, Dedalus, together with AWS, hosted an event that brought together leaders from the healthcare sector to discuss the future of interoperability, the cloud, and data intelligence. At the event, Dedalus officially launched the Dedalus Care suite, designed to comprehensively address both clinical and functional challenges in the sector. “The active participation of attendees reflected an urgent need to move toward more open, collaborative models that are centered on the value of clinical data,” affirms Contreras.

Healthcare Challenges and Technological Response

From Dedalus’ perspective, the main challenges currently facing the Chilean healthcare system include the need for an integrated, patient-centered electronic health record; achieving effective interoperability; improving operational efficiency; and adopting more flexible infrastructures like the cloud.

To meet these needs, the company offers a modular and scalable technology platform that enables the integration of data, processes, and analytics—empowering safer, more efficient workflows focused on high-quality clinical and operational outcomes. “Our solutions enable more efficient and secure workflows, strengthening both clinical decision-making and operational management. All of this is done with a focus on patient experience and the long-term sustainability of healthcare institutions,” says Selene Contreras.

According to the executive, clinical management is at a turning point thanks to technologies like artificial intelligence and interoperability, which make it possible to anticipate adverse events, optimize resources, and improve decision-making. “Change is inevitable. These technologies are transforming clinical management and making it possible to improve care quality. The key is having a strong, interoperable technological foundation built around an integrated clinical vision. What matters is not facing this journey alone. At Dedalus, we are committed to supporting this evolution—bringing proven solutions, a global vision, and a deep commitment to local needs,” she concludes.
