Dedalus welcomes the successful deployment of the new ORBIS and iPM systems

We are delighted to have partnered with Beaumont Hospital on the successful go-live of Project Coral—a landmark deployment of our ORBIS and iPM systems, and one of the most significant digital health transformations in Ireland to date.

Project Coral marks one of Ireland’s most significant digital health transformations to date

Dedalus, a leading global provider of healthcare software and digital transformation solutions, celebrates successful go-live of Project Coral at Beaumont Hospital, which went live over the weekend of September 13th. The project marks the deployment of Dedalus’ ORBIS and iPM systems, replacing a 35-year-old legacy system.

This milestone represents one of the most significant digital health transformations in Ireland to date. As Beaumont Hospital’s health technology partner on Project Coral, Dedalus has worked closely with clinical, operational, and technical teams to deliver a seamless implementation that enhances patient care, operational efficiency, and data-driven decision-making.

The support for the new systems is evidenced by the more than 3,000 staff who were trained in preparation for the transition.

Cathy McCartan, Sales and Marketing Director for Dedalus UKI, said:

“We are delighted to have partnered with Beaumont Hospital on the successful go-live of Project Coral—a landmark deployment of our ORBIS and iPM systems, and one of the most significant digital health transformations in Ireland to date. It also reflects real momentum behind the HSE and Department of Health’s Digital for Care 2030 plans, demonstrating that projects like this can be delivered at scale to enable safer, more efficient, and more connected care.”This milestone is a testament to the leadership of the Beaumont team and the extraordinary collaboration between clinical, operational, and technical staff. At the heart of any successful electronic health system deployment are the system’s users—healthcare professionals who rely on timely, seamless access to data to make informed decisions in the delivery of patient care. The fact that more than 3,000 staff were trained across multiple systems and played such an active role in ensuring a smooth, professional transition is a credit to everyone involved.

“Notably, the successful digitisation of Beaumont’s Emergency Department represents a major step forward, improving visibility, coordination, and decision-making in one of the hospital’s most high-pressure environments. For both patients and professionals, it means faster access to information, safer care, and more efficient service delivery.

“As a European provider with deep roots in Ireland’s health system, Dedalus is proud to support this future-focused transformation. Project Coral demonstrates what can be achieved with successful team collaboration, deep clinical alignment, and modern intuitive systems that meet the needs of its users.

“We look forward to continuing our partnership with Beaumont and supporting Ireland’s digital health journey.”

Europe’s number one EHR

At the heart of Project Coral is ORBIS, Dedalus’ flagship Electronic Health Record (EHR) platform.

Recognised as Europe’s number one EHR by “Best in KLAS: Software & Services” for Acute Care EHR in Europe for two consecutive years (2025 and 2024), ORBIS provides healthcare professionals with secure, integrated, and real-time access to patient information—enabling safer, more coordinated, and more efficient care across every stage of the patient journey.

Richard Craven, Managing Director UK & Ireland, Dedalus, said:

“ORBIS continues to set the standard for digital health innovation across Europe. Its recognition as Best in KLAS for two consecutive years reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering solutions that genuinely empower healthcare professionals and enhance patient care. We are proud to see ORBIS supporting forward-thinking organisations like Beaumont Hospital as they advance Ireland’s digital health ambitions.

“The successful go-live of the new Patient Administration System (iPM) and Orbis Clinicals at Beaumont, including Emergency Care, was completed as planned. This smooth transition marks an important step forward for the hospital, with the new systems already helping clinical and operational teams deliver more coordinated, efficient, and effective care for patients.”

The successful implementation of ORBIS and iPM at Beaumont reinforces Dedalus’ commitment to enabling healthcare organisations across Ireland and Europe to deliver connected, patient-centred care through innovative digital solutions.
